Yearly Vaccination Visits Should Include:
Physical Exam  A thorough physical exam is important for evaluating overall health, and tracking age related changes in your cat.
Fecal Parasite Exam  Cats encounter microscopic parasite eggs in thier environment and through interaction with other animals.  Parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and coccidia live in the intestines and pose a serious health problem if left untreated.  Fecal exams are necessary for proper identification and treatment of parasites.
Vaccinations Your cat's medical history and living conditions will be considered when vaccinating.  He or she may recieve the following immunizations:

FDRC  immunization A multivalent or combination vaccine which protects against:
Feline Panleukopenia ( also Feline Infectious Enteritis and Feline Distemper)  A disease which destroys white blood cells, resulting in death to 70% of its feline victims.  Proper vaccination against Feline Panleukopenia is important as the virus is transmitted through blood, urine, feces, and nasal secretions.  Your cat may become infected through direct or indirect contact.  The virus remains potent for more than a year on inanimate objects at room temperature, and can be carried by fleas.
Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis A disease of the respiatory tract which is highly contagious to other cats.  Infected animals may become ill and die in a short period, or have chronic respiratory infections.
Feline Pneumonitis (also Chlymydiosis)  Much like Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, this disease also attacks the respiratory system of cats.  Proper vaccination against these infections are important because of their extremely contagious qualities.
Feline Leukemia Virus immunization A vaccine which protects against Feline Leukemia Virus.  Proper vaccination is important because this disease attacks a cat's immune system rendering his body helpless to infection.  This fatal virus is transmitted through direct or indirect contact with blood, urine, feces, saliva, and nasal discharge of infected cats.
Rabies immunization Vaccination against rabies is required yearly in cats by law, because it is a threat to all warm blooded animals, including humans.  This virus attacks the central nervous system and is always fatal to its victims.  Rabies is transmitted by saliva, usually a bite, from an infected animal.
Program Flea Preventative This injection may also be administered at the time of vaccinations as a flea preventative.  The injection lasts 6 months and serves as a birth control for female fleas.  Many owners find this the most convenient method of flea control available for their cat.
